Five Stone Garden (watercolor) 1

Five Stone Garden, a new watercolor painting

Writing about this series this morning got my hands interested in doing another painting in the series. I thought I'd let you in on the process as I went through it. I wanted to do something in pure watercolor today, as I've been having the urge to do more watercolor, of whatever kind; so here's what happened.

In the bowl are the five Lake Superior stones I picked from the shore near the Temperance River, and have used in a number of these pieces. I dropped them onto the blank paper, and traced them with black watercolor pigment.

I will fill in the ground from there. The stones themselves, I am going to try some dimensional lighting using gray tones, with maybe a faint red tint to remind me of the original red rhyolite stones.
