Five Stone Garden: Stones in the River

Part of the ongoing Five Stone Garden series. 

Painted in one day. I decided to document the process of this painting, to demo the creative process. 

The essential method of this series is to let the stones fall onto the paper, and follow their lead. Indeterminacy leads to inspiration. Ultimately, one of the inspirations is the Zen influence on Japanese garden design.

I think this is probably the final state of this painting. At any rate, I'm done for now, even if the work isn't.
