This is an illustration made for an online magazine article on Zen Buddhism.

The illustration was made using a ceramic Japanese dish field with stones and driftwood picked from the California ocean shore. I arranged the driftwood into letters in the bowl, photographing each arrangement to spell one letter of the word "Zen," then assembled the photos in Photoshop for the final artwork.

This illustration has also been used on a poster.
