About Arthur Durkee

A designer since graduating from music school, when I got in on the very beginning of the desktop publishing revolution, I am a graphic artist, illustrator, typeface creator, photographer, writer, and artist in several media. I continue to compose and perform music, and I have won a few awards for doing so. My current passions are letterpress printing—I am working on a project with handset type and original block print illustrations for a poetry chapbook—and writing choral music to be performed. I recently had a premiere of an original choral work commemorating the 50th anniversary of the riots at the Stonewall Inn in NYC, which many consider to be the spark that lit the fire of the modern LGBT rights movement.

Recordings of my music can be found online at: Arthur Durkee Arts on Bandcamp.
