Green Man poetry chapbook trilogy, 2020-2022

Showing the the hand-printed linocut slipcase covers for each chapbook (top), and the inner front covers (bottom).

The first chapbook, Green Man, was completed in early 2020, and printed just before the pandemic shut everything down. it was the completion of ten years of poems written on the Green Man theme, collated after long contemplation. All the poems share the theme from different directions, in a range of styles from lyrical to experimental to haibun.

The next two chapbook in the series were written, illustrated with linocuts, in 2021 and 2022. They were pandemic projects. Both were written in sudden Bursts of inspiration.

Greenmantle was written over the space of 24 hours, as 31 strict haiku making up a longer single poem, a poem of love and longing for the wild god of the spring greening.

Moonheart was written in two days while camping by a lake far off the grid in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. It took some time to revise the poem, and several months to create the 10 linocut prints that illustrate the book. Like Greenmantle, Moonheart is a love poem to the mature Horned God of the forest, a single book-length poem in several sections that use different poetic forms and styles.

The original runs of each chapbook sold out. I have done a limited number of reprints of each chapbook, and am doing bindery on them now.
