Vermillion Cliffs National Monument, AZ

This is a digital painting made from a photo made on location. Vermillion Cliffs is part of the Escalante region of Arizona and Utah, rising north from the Grand Canyon all the way up to Capitol Reef, where a billion years of rocks are exposed to view, as if climbing up a ladder through time. This painting, or variations on it, has appeared like an inspiring memory in some of my other artwork. 

This painting represents to me the open spaces and endless lonely roads I have traveled while living in the Southwestern United Sates. Painted in ArtRage app on iPad.
