Zingerman's Deli

A digital painting using various techniques, based on my own photograph of Zingerman's Deli in Ann Arbor, MI.

This is a style of digital painting I do several times a year, whenever I have made a photograph that i think merits being turned into a painting. My rule in making digital paintings from my photos is that the image must be a good photo to begin with, be meaningful to be worth painting, and to be fun to do. I like to make these kinds of paintings quickly, and I prefer to leave them somewhat "loose" in style, even semi-abstract.

I am sometimes commissioned by friends to make digital paintings for them, which includes a series of portrait paintings. The iPad digital painting apps I use most often are ArtRage, ProCreate, and iColorama.
